"Fostering Opportunities for Resident Empowerment and Self-Sufficiency"
Our Resident Services Department provides essential resources and services that foster resident empowerment and self-sufficiency. Resident Services is a core tenet of our mission & vision to support the upward mobility of residents with partnerships in the private and public sectors.
Housing Stability
With stable rent Và a safe place to call home, residents can turn their attention away from housing concerns and towards creating a foundation for a better life. We support residents through this process with an eviction prevention program Và crisis support, so residents can focus on work, raising families, aging-in-place, attending school, mitigating and handling crisis, and much more.
We help residents build inclusive communities Và develop their networks with individual and group training, skill-building activities, and family support. We promote upward mobility for our residents through collaboration with local service providers for case management, counseling, job training and placement, and healthcare services.
Resident Opportunities and Self-Sufficiency (ROSS)
A public housing resident self-sufficiency program funded through HUD to assist residents with supportive services and service coordination.
Community Engagement for Redevelopment
The core principles of our resident-driven redevelopment placeresidents at the center of decision-making, allowing them to positively and meaningfully impact their own environments. We support community engagement for redevelopment through resident planning meetings and listening to the wants/needs/concerns of residents throughout the redevelopment process.
Self-Determined Community Programs
We provide and obtain partnerships to provide supportive services to increase the lifestyle and economic independence of residential families, youth, the elderly, and families with disabled family members. Some examples of programs include community-wide internet access, assistance for signing up kids for after-school and summer programs, and nursing clinic support.
As part of HUD’s Section 3 Policy, we strategically recruit, employ, train, and mentor residents in the management of CRHA and other careers in Charlottesville. We partner with residents with the goal of helping neighborhoods succeed and becoming a primarily resident-managed organization. To do so, we focus on hiring staff with lived experience in public housing and voucher programs.
