Family Self-Sufficiency Program
CRHA’s Family Self-Sufficiency Program (FSS) is a multi-year work and saving program for families receiving CRHA housing assistance. Program participants work with a dedicated FSS Coordinator to set long and short-term goals that will increase their ability to earn a greater income and move towards self-sufficiency.

Set smart goals and identify strategies to meet them
Raise Income
Increase income and pursue goals over the multi-year program
Accomplishment
Graduate with new skills, higher earnings, and a personal savings account
Benefits of FSS Program
Participants of the FSS Program will gain a variety of benefits, including…
An ability to earn savings each month by diverting rent increases (from increased earned income) to a CRHA-managed escrow account
A referral to community resources like credit counseling, childcare, transportation assistance, continuing education, job training, and more
A dedicated FSS Coordinator who will partner with you, helping you identify and work towards your program goals
FSS Savings Account
Every FSS participant has the opportunity to grow a personal savings account over the 5-year program. As a participant’s earned income increases throughout the program, their resulting rent increase is moved into a savings account. They can draw on their savings for job-related expenses throughout the multi-year program and then receive that savings in full upon program graduation. Some program participants have graduated with over $10,000 in their accounts.
