CRHA receives funding from the Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) and other sources to manage and operate seven public housing communities in Charlottesville. CRHA’s public housing program is committed to excellence in providing decent and safe rental housing for all eligible low-income families, seniors, and persons with disabilities.
CRHA’s seven public housing communities include Westhaven, Crescent Halls, South First Street, Sixth Street, Michie Drive, Riverside Drive, and Madison Avenue. Additionally, CRHA owns five “scattered” single-family homes that operate as public housing units.
CRHA owns and manages 376 units of public housing in the City of Charlottesville.

If you wish to apply to CRHA’s public housing program when it opens up again (closed as of 10/1/24 at 4:30p), download and complete CRHA’s Public Housing Application and return it to the Public Housing offices (Crescent Halls) at 500 1st St. South.
