The South First St. public housing community will be redeveloped in three phases, with extensive resident involvement:

• Phase 1, at the south end of the property where the ballfield is currently located, will feature the construction of 62 new apartments and a community center in three buildings.  Construction is due to get underway in early 2021.
• Phase 2, where the existing 58 public housing units are located, will be redeveloped into 113 new townhouses and apartments, plus a new community center.  Construction is expected to get underway by spring or summer of 2022.
• Phase 3, a small wooded lot that CRHA owns at the corner of Hartman’s Mill Rd. and South 1st St., will be redeveloped at some point in the future.  The planning process for Phase 3 has not yet begun.
