Fourth grant from Home Investments Partnerships Program (HOME) will aid homeownership efforts

The Charlottesville Redevelopment and Housing Authority (CRHA) is pleased to announce four grants awarded by the City of Charlottesville on Monday night.
The first totals $154, 806.00. This Community Development Block Grant focuses on affordable housing preservation for CRHA’s Dogwood portfolio. These are more than 70 apartments and homes scattered throughout the city managed by CRHA. This grant will fund property improvements and ensure these units remain affordable forever.
The second grant is $72,607.93 to fund the hiring of an Economic Opportunity Program Coordinator. This new hire would increase the number of programs available to residents by collaborating with partner agencies to bring new opportunities to housing sites. This coordinator will also work one on one with residents with a goal of helping them attain self-sufficiency.
The third totals $18, 941.54. This will benefit CRHA’s Housing Stability Program. This program offers residents a chance to mitigate housing worries and focus more on creating a foundation for a better life, through work, school, mitigating or handling crisis and much more.
The fourth comes from HUD’s Home Investment Partnerships Program and totals $37, 430.74. It will be used to provide down payment assistance (DPA) for CRHA residents who are first-time homebuyers. It is aimed at helping them buy homes that are safe, decent and accessible.
