WASHINGTON (CBS19 NEWS) — Boar’s Head Brand has expanded its recall in connection with a Listeria outbreak that has sicked nearly three dozen people in 13 states.
On Tuesday, the company announced it was recalling another seven million pounds of ready-to-eat meat and poultry products.
The expansion includes 71 products that were produced between May 10 and July 29 at the Jarratt, Virginia facility under the Boar’s Head and Old Country brand names.
The items also include meats intended for slicing at retail delis and some packaged meat and poultry products that are sold at retail locations with “sell by” dates ranging from 29-JUL-2024 through 17-OCT-2024.
According to a release, the U.S. Department of Agriculture told Boar’s Head on Monday that the Strassburger Brand Liverwurst was linked to the national deli meat Listeria monocytogenes outbreak that has killed two people.
“Out of an abundance of caution, we decided to immediately and voluntarily expand our recall to include all items produced at the Jarratt facility. We have also decided to pause ready-to-eat operations at this facility until further notice,” wrote Boar’s Head.
Consumers are advised to discard any of the recalled products listed or return to the store where they were purchased for a full refund.
The recalled products have been sent to retail locations across the country and some were even exported to the Cayman Islands, the Dominican Republic, Mexico and Panama. They will have establishment number “EST.12612” or “P-12612” inside the USDA mark of inspection on the product’s label.
Recalled products include the Gourmet Pepper Ham Half, the Pickle and Pepper Loaf, the Liverwurst Pate 8oz, Bologna Thick Half, Steakhouse Slab Bacon, Spiced Ham Square Half, BourbonRidge Ham and the Skinless Beef Franks under the Boar’s Head brand name as well as the Gourmet Pepper Ham, Black Forest Ham, Tavern Ham, Canadian Style Bacon, and Habanero Ham under the Old Country brand name.
